moreIt’s more than a number on your home.
We conducted a pilot program in the town of Wai, India. Our initial focus was to create a digital addressing system for the town. Upon meeting with local authorities, we were told about the need for additional information. Specifically, the authorities needed to know who had a running toilet in their home, who had running water in their home, and who participated in trash separation.
We were able to collect the necessary data at the time the addressing system was established, and provide vital information for local authorities.
We often look at addressing as a number on your home. That is simply the beginning.
Can you track COVID?
The COVID pandemic has been a great struggle for many nations. One of the great struggles with this pandemic is tracking. Where are the current outbreaks? Does the virus seem to be moving?
We took available data and broke it down with our Aimlocate software and presented that data through our website. Now, you are able to break down where the virus is and where it is moving, greatly helping local authorities battle the virus.
Track the virus and stop the spread.
Developing a National Addressing System
Kenya is in the process of developing their national addressing system, standards, and database. AimLocate was brought in to assist with this process and use its addressing standards for Addressing Kenya.
This is a full process that will be bringing in stakeholders from the entire government. Nearly every branch of government will benefit from the addressing system and will be a standard for other countries attempting to do the same thing.
We will update this story as the project continues.
Yeah, but how quickly can you do it?
This question is presented to us fairly frequently, and is a problem all around the world. Many are excited to start their addressing, but then learn of the many years that are supposedly required to get a system up and operational. We wanted to show how quickly we could complete an addressing system for a country.
We had been invited to speak at a conference in the country of Lesotho. The country of Lesotho also was looking for an addressing standard. So, we decided to address the country. This included every building having a unique address created by our Aimlocate code, as well as city names and street names.
Addressing doesn’t need to be a decade long process. Let’s speed it up.
Track and treatment
Liberia lacks a national addressing system, as well as a way to store that information. We were in early conversations with Liberia for an addressing system when Ebola began to devastate the country.
One of the issues the country was running into was being able to track the virus. Citizens, afraid of quarantine, would drop a body in the street so as to hide where they passed away. The government’s thought was that these bodies could not have traveled far from where they died, so they wanted to start tracking where bodies were being found. We sent hardware and software to help with this problem. With the tools we sent, authorities could track where confirmed cases existed, as well as where bodies were found.
Track the virus and stop the spread.
Tourism, Taxation, and Ecommerce
Palau is a paradise. Located in the South Pacific, Palau consists of some 340 islands. Palau needed addresses. We worked with the Koror State Government where the majority of the population currently resides to establish the addressing system.
Being one of the top scuba diving destinations in the world, tourism is a big source of the country’s income. The government wanted to make it simple for tourists when they came to the country to find what they were looking for, and support local business.
In addition, the government was looking for a better way to send out bills and taxes via mail. Currently, it all had to be done by foot and by simply knowing where someone lived. This made the process very difficult and time consuming.
Finally, the shipping companies wanted a better way of doing their work. We live in a global economy and the ability to ship and receive packages is part of life. Having to call and attempt to coordinate a delivery date and time slows down the process.
The addressing system we provide works seamlessly with every mapping software so they can be found via smartphone. Also, it gives locals governments, citizens, and businesses the ability to send out mail and packages with confidence.
Natural disaster aftermath
Natural disasters present a government with unique and devastating challenges. Saipan is a member of the Northern Mariana Islands. Recently, it suffered a devastating tsunami. When a natural disaster of this magnitude strikes, information is key. In some instances, entire buildings are gone.
We overlaid our software with before and after addressing data. This gives the ability to see what building was there before the national disaster, as well as: who owned the building, how many people currently reside in the building, etc. With this kind of information, you can respond quickly and hopefully save lives.
How you respond will help many.
